To create the background, I used Washi Tape- both from Michaels (Recollections), and the Dollar Store (Sandy Lion). All I did was cut varying lengths of washi, and stuck it to the card stock. Its re-positionable, so if it wasn't in the right spot, it was easy to pick up and move. The two hearts were punched for another project, but I decided I didn't like them (on that project), but they worked well on this one. I pulled out a journalling tag (Recollections), to write my journalling on; and in a stroke of brilliance, I used a word sticker to replace my own hand writing. This technique is a lot of fun. I like the thought of it, so tomorrow's layout has more of it in it. You'll see it tomorrow night!
Kyle makes this out-of-this-world tortellini- something that I think he copied from the Nova, a truck stop/bar way out on the West End; when we were dating, we met up with his dad for lunch or supper, as he was on his way out of the city (he's a long haul truck driver); he told me I HAD to try this tortellini. Well, it was pretty stinking good. Kyle's recipe is a close second. We don't eat it often, but when we do, its a special treat. We ate it every so often before the kids were born, and then realized this past spring that we hadn't had it in at least three years- so, since the kids were born. It was time to try it out again! This was our first time eating it after a three year absence from such a divine supper. And, the kids are definitely our kids. They love it too!
I used alphas from the Well Travelled collection (Carta Bella), as well as some embellishments from both the Well Travelled and Alphabet Junction collections. The sticker banner at the bottom of the journalling spot is Jillibean Soup.
This layout inspired today's Point to Ponder; I still had it on the brain when I sat down to play tonight, so created some more journalling using my own handwriting and word stickers. It adds a lot of whimsy and fun. It also saves you from writers cramp!
What are some ways you like cutting corners in your scrapbooking? How do you like to save time and be unique while being creative?
Till tomorrow...take care!
