I've got something different going on tonight- usually when I scrap, I've got music that I've downloaded playing, but tonight, I'm actually listening to Now! Radio. Its a nice change! I downloaded their app to my phone, and it allows me to get actual radio (that I enjoy listening to) without all the static! I'm still trying to figure out the chat part of their app, though. Anyone have any insights?
Since I came home a day earlier than planned, I got to start working on my new custom album order a day early. I am pretty excited about it. I dropped by Michaels to stock up on card stock, and I found some awesome patterned paper that's school themed. You'll see it turn up on a page in the album I'm working on. It'll be perfect for all those 'Back to School' and "Thank you Teacher' type projects. I'm excited to start using it!
I mentioned on my group page today, that if no new custom orders come through in the next short while, I'll be starting a new blog series on card making! I know that some of my fans are interested in learning more about making cards, and where to start, and I want to help y'all figure that out! I aim to please, and I hope you find it helpful! But, stay tuned, because it won't be coming up for a few weeks yet, at least. I want to get this album done, and some camping out the way, first! Then, I'm all yours, until the next round of camping and then a wedding! Phew- the next month and a bit is going to be insane. Thats how I like it, though! I feel alive when life is stupidly busy.
Now, lets get to the good stuff! Here's the title page of the album I started working on today. This album is actually being made as a giveaway prize. Remember the 1000 fan giveaway Snappy Bowtique had a while back? One of my lucky fans won a custom made scrapbook album, and I'm just now getting around to making it. Bless my clients' heart, there's no rush in getting it done fast. But, now that I've started it, it shouldn't take too long to finish.
During our conversation about it, she mentioned that she likes the up cycled movement, and wanted an album made from cardboard. So, I began collecting cardboard, and when I had enough, I was able to get started. As it turns out, I have another order to fulfill for later this year that's also going to be made from cardboard, so I need to collect a lot of it! As a side note, I really like how the cardboard albums look, too, and would really like to make one for myself one day. I'd also like to try a chipboard album. I have a heart one, but it has me stumped at the moment, so its staying safely tucked away in a storage drawer until inspiration hits!
Coming up with an album title was a bit of a challenge for me on this one. Each page in this album is going to have a different theme, so I wanted to come up with something that was all-encompassing. I feel fairly satisfied with what I came up with:
You'll be seeing a lot of scraps of paper from the other album I made in this album. There may not be as much pink and purple (and sparkle), but you'll recognize some of the same papers. Some of it will be new. I want to keep this one gender neutral, because I don't know who will be going in this album- I'm not putting pictures in it! That's going to be up to my client. Challenges- I love them!
The holes you see on the left side of the page are for the binding. I plan to use twine to tie the album together once its done. The papers here are a mixture of Jillibean Soup (various collections) and SU. THe circle in the upper right corner is actually a Christmas ornament die cut, that's been turned, so that you're unable to see the top; the 'Believe' die cut is also SU (I believe), as is the star die cut. I layered some paper behind it, for extra depth and visual interest. I used some pop dots to add the depth. They (the die cuts, as well as chipboard) were in some photo boxes that I acquired this weekend. (Surprise!!) And, thanks to C for them! You rock!!!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening, friends, and thank you for dropping in! I'm still looking for more custom work- give me something to dooooo! Spread the word- please and thank you! Love you all, see you again tomorrow. {{{Hugs}}}
