The flower was given to me last year, by my sweet friend Rebecca (you can find her blog HERE) as part of a prize I won for participating in a National Scrapbook day contest she was having on her blog. Its a Recollections paper flower, and to beef it up a bit, I took my Ranger Industries Pearl Mists and spritzed them. Here's a close up:
For the title, I used a mixture of the alphas from the Well Travelled collection. All these alphas are off the same sticker sheet. I used a quote that is found on a journalling card that I bought in a pack from Michaels. I loved the quote, but wasn't loving how it looked paired with my layout! So, I improvised!
To finish up, I threw on a couple other stickers, all from the Well Travelled collection (the picture corner is actually from Carta Bella's Paris Girl collection), and there you have it! A masterpiece I am quite proud of!
So, this layout marks the beginning of my new series, entitled "Pinterest Inspired". I mentioned that yesterday, as well. And, because I was in a bit of a rut (or, at least, I felt that way), so I pulled out another sketch that I've been hanging on to, and used it for today's layout.
Before I even started this layout, I searched through my stash for beachy type or fishing style embellishments, and I found these while on that journey. They're perfect! The packaging that was found with the embellishments also was used as the mat for the title and journalling (K&Co Handmade collection). The patterned paper is also K&Co (from the Best of collection); there's a sea shell on the left hand side of it, near the top, and when I saw it, I knew it was perfect. I was hunting for something that was reminiscent of a journal or letter or a beach. All three elements are incorporated into this paper. A match made in heaven! Even the colors are bang-on!
To give the card stock some movement, I used my chevron stamp, and stamped away with Stampin' Ups Night of Navy ink. I didn't press too hard, because I wanted to recreate the feeling of the ebb and flow of waves.
The folder tab sticker is from the So Noted collection (Carta Bella), as are the number stickers. The rhinestones are recollections. I also thought pearl rhinestones worked perfectly for a nautical type layout. (No one needs to know the girls were going ice fishing with their grandparents). LOL
This is the sketch that inspired this layout. Sorry, I don't know how to convert this file to a PNG file, so I can't use it as a picture here! But, the link is included, instead.
Till tomorrow! Thanks for dropping by. As always, I appreciate you!
By the way--I asked a question on the group page today: COMMENT on the question, letting us know what's been on your mind lately. Well, what's been on my mind?? I was invited to participate in a trade show this weekend in Stony Plain! The events coordinator of One Stop Shop saw an ad I had posted to Kijiji, and asked me if I would like to join in the fun this weekend. WOW! I was blown away, humbled and totally stoked to have been invited to such a well- advertised event! (Stations like NOW radio, CISN country and SONIC, as well as Global TV have been advertisting the bridal fair that's going on in Stony this weekend). She needed someone to fill a scrapbooking/card making spot, and she asked me! Whhaatt?!
Unfortunately, because its so short on notice, I had to decline, but I've now got my foot in the door. She invited me to check out one that's happening this winter. I'm definitely going to that one!
Does anyone else have any exciting news they want to share?
Love y'all!
