This layout marks the beginning of another series, of sorts. Both the girls and their grandpa M celebrate their birthdays a day apart, and early in February, we headed down to Oyen to celebrate with G. It was a surprise party, and an absolute blast! The girls were the youngest there, but that didn't matter. They were enthralled with the cake, balloons and other goodies that L had made for the occasion. This picture was snapped shortly after he arrived at the party.
I couldn't help but turn sentimental while we were at the party. It was held in a conference room at the local Super 8- the same room where some of our wedding pictures were taken. So, a layout will be coming incorporating both parties- sort of a before and after, if you will. Before kids, and after kids. LOL
Supplies:
K&Co: all the patterned papers (the 'Best Of' collection- bought at Walmart)
Carta Bella: red alphas and small banner (from the Well Travelled collection)
SU: Basic black ink
Adhesives: herma vario, glue dots
Misc: cricut (for the '70'), cling mounted stamp for journalling spot, button
The second picture that I included here, was a small gift she gave the girls upon meeting them: an elephant stuffy and a tiger stuffy. At first, neither of them wanted them, but now they adore them!
This is another project made mostly from scraps. I wanted to mimic the colors of the stuffies, so used orange, black and grey. They grey patterned papers and the orange flowered patterned paper are all scraps, and come from a mixture of manufacturers. Actually, the entire layout is pretty eclectic! The car sticker in the bottom right is to signify that J drove to Alberta with a friend for the occasion.
Supplies:
Martha Stewart: light grey patterned paper (collection not known)
SU: dark grey patterned paper (collection unknown, as well). This may also be CM. Not totally sure!! Orange flowered patterned paper (collection unknown) Pam, maybe you can help me with this!!
Carta Bella: alphas, embellishments (from the Alphabet Junction and Well Travelled collections)
Adhesives: herma vario
The song, "Chasing Girls", by Rodney Atkins, is our theme song. Lyrics like, 'Ali, will you marry me,' and 'twins that are three years old' strike a chord with us. Its our life story (almost). Especially now, since the girls are three years old. This song hit the airwaves either shortly before the girls were born, or shortly thereafter. It has a lot of sentimental meaning for us.
Is there a song that means a lot to you? Is there a song that you consider your theme song? It doesn't matter if there's one or 100 of them; scrapbook them all!
